MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) companies, aircraft manufacturers and airlines that perform in-service aircraft NDT inspections are under increasing pressure to perform their evaluations as quickly as possible without sacrificing accuracy. The longer the aircraft remains on the ground, the more money airlines lose. This increasing pressure has led these service companies to change their way of doing things and the tools they use on a daily basis. Faced with tighter deadlines, hard-to-find skilled labor, increasingly complex parts to evaluate, and tighter budgets, the industry is now turning to digital solutions to meet these many challenges. This presentation will provide a brief overview of these new tools, the advantages they offer in the aerospace industry and will offer concrete examples of various possible applications. François Paré, mechanical engineer, has been using different 3D technologies for more than 10 years. Now a sales representative, he will review the diversified uses of portable and automated 3D solutions.
