The Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) sector is one of the most active sectors in the aerospace industry, which is expected to grow exponentially over the next few years. The industry, including the end-users or clients, continues to take shape and show interest, although, there are many variables and barriers to the market or to allow full exploitation of the RPAS. As with many aspects of our lives, the pandemic has led us to review our working methods, which makes us even more convinced of the innovative role that this sector and future collaboration can play in the economic recovery of the province of Quebec. There is a strong momentum in Quebec under development, although we need to better understand and address some of these barriers. This short presentation will identify some of those barriers, provide some context, identify some requirements to support our developments and present the Qualia project and how it can support the industry.
